Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
SASKATOON S.K - The Brandon Wheat Kings comeback fell short as the Saskatoon Blades escape with a 3-2 win Saturday night. The Blades sweep the season series 6-0.
The first period was all Blades scoring a pair of goals 2 minutes apart from eachother. First it was Jake Chiasson springing Conner Roulette loose on a 2 on 1 allowing Roulette to find Charlie Wright in the slot to make it 1-0 Blades. Then while on a Blades powerplay Chiasson would locate Josh Pillar in the high slot alling Pillar to score his 7th of the year extending the Blades lead. The Wheat Kings would get a break at the tail end of the period with Nolan Flamand scoring after placing a shot off a Blades defenders stick to cut the lead in half. Then, Andrei Malyavin would find Caleb Hadland open in the slot to tie it up at two.
It was a back and fourth period in the second until Blades forward Justin Lies took a Rowan Calvert pass from the corner beating Nick Jones to make it 3-2 Blades heading into the third.
In the third period it was all Wheat Kings out shooting the Blades 11-4 but goaltender Ethan Chadwick was a brick wall and had great support from his team blocking numerous Wheat Kings shots to keep it 3-2.
