The Kelowna Rockets fell 5-2 to the Kamloops Blazers on Friday night at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, BC.
Kamloops quickly jumped out to a one-goal lead with the Rockets responding just over a minute later. The Blazers struck two more times in the opening frame, before adding another in the second period. Kelowna was able to pull back within two while on the power play before Kamloops potted the empty netter.
The Rockets faced a season-high 60 shots in the game, with goaltender Talyn Boyko setting career highs for shots and saves.
Caedan Bankier centred the puck from behind the Rockets net for Shea Van Olm (8) out front to open the scoring 3:18 into the game. The Rockets responded just over a minute later when Ty Hurley's shot bounced off of Dylan Ernst's pad to an awaiting Grady Lenton (4). Ethan Brandwood's shot from the point was redirected by Emmitt Finnie (8) past Talyn Boyko. Logan Stankoven (32) recorded a power play goal to push Kamloops out to a two-goal lead in his return back to the lineup after missing the last four games with an injury.
Talyn Boyko made 28 saves alone in the second period before Dylan Sydor (11) in the final minute.
Dylan Wightman (14) pulled Kelowna back within two on the power play 3:52 into the third. Connor Levis (24) launched a shot from the Blazers zone into the empty Rockets net.

The Rockets were without Carson Golder, who was suspended for four games after last Friday's hit on a Vancouver Giant. He will be eligible to return to the lineup on Saturday, March 18th against Kamloops

Kelowna's home game tomorrow will be their RE/MAX: Nickelodeon Night for the Children's Miracle Network on Saturday, March 18th when they take on the Kamloops Blazers at 7:05 p.m. PT.
The Rockets will be wearing a special edition SpongeBob SquarePants themed jersey to celebrate the night that will be up for auction during the game. Proceeds from the silent auction will go to the BC Children's Hospital.
