Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings wrapped up their weekend homestand with a loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday night at Rogers Place.
In the first period, the Hurricanes outshot the Oil Kings 15-8 and were rewarded with a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
Tyson Laventure picked up the lone goal of the period at the 12:47 mark after he was able to re-direct home a point-shot from Tyson Zimmer.
Just under five minutes into the second period, the Hurricanes extended their lead after Noah Chadwick picked the top corner with a shot from the right-circle after taking a cross-ice pass from Cole Shepard.
The Oil Kings were briefly able to pull back to within a goal after Loick Daigle sniped his seventh of the year from the left-circle of the Hurricanes zone with a shot over the glove of Bryan Thomson, but just five seconds later, Miguel Marques made it 3-1 for the visitors on a breakaway off of the center-ice faceoff.
Before the period was out, Blake Swetlikoff tipped in a Joe Arntsen point-shot on a Lethbridge power play to put the Hurricanes up by three heading to the third.
In the third period, Logan Wormald and Nolan Bentham would etch their names in the goal column to make the final 6-1 in favour of the Hurricanes.
Next up, the Oil Kings hit the road to Swift Current on Tuesday, March 21 for a battle with the Broncos at 7:00 p.m.
