Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors closed within one goal late in the third period before the Prince Albert Raiders pulled away on Saturday night.
The Warriors lost 5-2 to the Raiders, giving up two goals in the second and two in the third, at the Art Hauser Centre.
"We've got to capitalize on our chances," Warriors assistant coach Gord Burnett said. "It's frustrating, but it can't last forever, we'll start putting some more chances back in."
Brayden Yager and Josh Hoekstra scored for the Warriors in the loss.
Special teams were a big factor in the game as the Warriors finished 0-for-6 on the power play and allowed two goals on four power plays for the Raiders.
"Our power play is really good and we have a lot of really good players on it that can score and sometimes they're just snake bitten," Burnett said.
The game was tied after the first period with Prince Albert scoring first when Niall Crocker found the back of the net just 5:41 into the game.
Yager answered for the Warriors only two minutes later, as he snapped home his 24th of the season.
The Raiders pulled in front with goals from Aiden Oiring and Eric Johnston in the second period.
Hoekstra made it a one-goal game with just over eight minutes left in the third period, but Landon Kosior and Crocker scored 31 seconds apart to seal the win for Prince Albert.
Jackson Unger made 18 saves in the loss, while each team fired 23 shots on net in the game.
"We played well at times and then to lose the game the way we did, it's frustrating for sure," Burnett said.
The Warriors will aim to bounce back when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Tuesday.
It's the final Two-For-Tuesday of the season with two-for-one tickets and concession items.
