Calgary Hitmen News Release
Edmonton, AB - In a Saturday night Central Division battle at Rogers Place, the Calgary Hitmen skated to a 7-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Captain Riley Fiddler-Schultz and sophomore Oliver Tulk both set up a trio of goals while Carter Yakemchuk and David Adaszynski scored twice to drive the Calgary attack. Sean Tschigerl and Vojtech Husinecky, with his first career Western Hockey League tally, also found the back of the net for the visitors while Maxim Muranov added a pair of assists.
Trailing 2-1 just over 11 minutes into the first period, the Hitmen rallied with six unanswered goals to complete the victory. Adaszynski's first of the night may have been the most important. With Edmonton looking to pull even, Adaszynski scored shorthanded at 8:24 of second period to extend the lead to 4-2.
The Hitmen power play was also a major factor on this night scoring a season-high four times on six chances.
Calgary outshot Edmonton 38-26 as goaltender Brayden Peters made 24 saves to move into a tie with Mack Shields for sixth place on the club's all-time wins list with 57.
The Hitmen, 24-23-5-2, face a quick turnaround as they are back at home tomorrow afternoon on Sunday, Feb. 19 to open a five-game homestand against the Memorial Cup host Kamloops Blazers. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex. It's then back to Scotiabank Saddledome to host the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game.
