February 18, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
The Tri-City Americans will faceoff against the Spokane Chiefs tonight at the Toyota Center.
It will be the 7th of 12 matchups this season between the two teams. Tri-City is 4-2-0-0 against the Chiefs so far this season. They most recently met on January 28 when the Ams took a 6-2 victory in Kennewick.
Tri-City's top scorer, Ethan Ernst, leads scoring against the Chiefs with five goals and five assists. Chase Bertholet has been Spokane's best player against the Americans with three goals and seven assists.
The Ams have been excellent at home this season, boasting a 18-5-2-1 record at the Toyota Center, but have struggled more recently as they're on a season-high three game losing streak at the home (0-1-1-1) and season-high 6 game losing streak overall (0-4-1-1).
The Americans narrowly fell to the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 in overtime last night at the Toyota Center. Ethan Ernst (PP), Chase Friedt-Mohr, and Jordan Gavin (PP) scored for the Americans. Tri-City trailed by one most of the night until Gavin tied the game in the third period. With a goal and two assists, the rookie forward recorded his 3rd game with 3+ points this season. Tomas Suchanek had an outstanding night in net, turning aside 38 of 42 shots faced.
Captain Marc Lajoie reached a career milestone playing in his 200th WHL game yesterday.
The Ams will look to fight their way back into the win column, and down the Chiefs which are on a 2-0-0-1 streak.
