Pats Begin Three Game Homestand Tonight vs. Winnipeg

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats continue their stretch of six games in nine days tonight as they begin a three game homestand against the Winnipeg ICE inside the Brandt Centre on Cancer Awareness Night.

ABOUT CANCER AWARENESS NIGHT

The Pats will be wearing themed jerseys designed by 22Fresh for this game, which will be auctioned of following the game where any winning bidders in attendance will receive their jersey directly from the player on the ice. Net proceeds from the jersey auction and all themed merchandise will go to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.

Saturday's game will also include a special pre-game ceremony where all fans will have a chance to honour or show their support for a loved one affected by cancer by writing their own message on an "I Fight For" card. There will be a 22Fresh pop-up tent set up above Section 114 during Saturday's game that will be selling limited quantities of the themed merchandise.

LAST NIGHT

The Pats are coming off a 6-5 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders on the road last night. The Pats had two leads escape them in the hockey game, as they once led 3-1 after one and 5-4 early in the third after it was 4-4 after two. Connor Bedard reached the 50 goal & 100 point mark for a second straight season with a four point contest (2G-2A) while Alexander Suzdalev scored twice to hit the 30 goal mark. Tanner Howe scored for a second straight game as well and Stanislav Svozil tallied a pair of helpers. The final shots were 37-31 for the Pats. Regina was 3-7 on the power play and 3-5 on the penalty kill.

Meanwhile, the Winnipeg ICE are coming off a 7-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday as the club began a 10 game road trip. 15 different skaters got on the scoresheet in their fifth straight victory with the ICE getting goals from Jonas Woo (1G-1A), Vladislav Shilo (1G-1A), Owen Pederson, Carson Lambos (1G-1A), Carson Latimer, Matthew Savoie and Ben Zloty as well as a two assist performance from Zach Benson. Daniel Hauser made 21 saves for his 28th win of the season and fourth straight win. The final shots were 31-22 for Winnipeg. The ICE went 0-3 on the power play and 1-2 on the penalty kill.

Additionally, the ICE come into today's play with the best road record in the WHL at 18-5-0-0. They are one of four teams to clinch a playoff berth already.

HEADLINES

Connor Bedard became the ninth Pat' in franchise history to score 50+ goals in back-to-back seasons and the first to do so since since Mike Sillinger who had 50 in three-straight seasons (1988-89, 1989-90, and 1990-91). He also reached 100 points in back-to-back seasons, becoming the first Pats player to do so in consecutive seasons since Adam Brooks (2015-16 & 2016-17). His 113 career goals is the second most by a player before their 18th birthday in WHL history. He is also the sixth player in team history to score 50 in his 17-year-old season.

The Regina Pats are 7-4-1 over their last 12 games, defeating the Calgary Hitmen twice (6-2 & 6-5), Saskatoon Blades (7-4), Portland Winterhawks (4-3), Swift Current Broncos (5-2), Lethbridge Hurricanes (3-2) and Moose Jaw Warriors (8-4) which comes following a three game losing-streak from Jan. 1 - Jan. 6. During that time, they have outscored their opponents 56-to-50 (+5 goal diff.)

27 (+1 in shootout) number of goals for the Pats over the past six games, with four of the last six games ending in one goal (3-2-1), all coming since Jan. 31. During that time, the Pats have received goals from nine different players over their last five games.

Regina Pats Head Coach and GM John Paddock picked up his 200th win as coach of the Pats on Saturday. He is now two wins away from tying Frank Mario (202) for third on the all-time wins list, while 6 wins away from tying Murray Armstrong (206) for second on the list.

10: Points (3G-7A) for Tanner Howe over his last eight games, with points in in six of those eight contests...he has scored in back-to-back games and is riding a three game point-streak (2G-4A)...he is seven points away from tying his career high (69).

17: Number of assists in 11 games for defenceman Stanislav Svozil since coming back from the World Juniors on Jan. 13...the Czechia product is second amongst defencemen in assists with 49 and tied for fourth in points with 54...his 1.38 points/game is second amongst all defencemen.

3: Three game point-streak for Borya Valis (1G-4A-5PTS) coming into action tonight...the Denver, CO product has 12 points (4G-8A) over his last 12 games after picking up just two points (1G-1A) over his previous 10 games.
