Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (25-29) fell to Ace Walker and the Winnipeg Goldeyes (32-21) by a score of 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.

Ace Walker (6-3) pitched the entire game for the Goldeyes and held the RedHawk offense to two runs (both earned). Walker had four strikeouts and a walk while allowing eight hits in his sixth win of the year.

The Goldeyes gave Walker an early lead 4-1 by scoring a run in the second inning, two in the third inning, and another one in the fourth inning. Two of those runs were unearned due to miscues by the RedHawks defense.

After giving up a solo home run and a double to start the fourth inning, Alex Caldera (5-2) dialed in and did his best to keep his team in the game by getting the next fourteen batters out. Caldera had a season-high nine strikeouts in the game. Caldera yielded five hits, a walk, and four runs (two earned) over his eight innings of work.

At the start of the ninth inning, the score was 4-2, and the 2,833 RedHawks fans in attendance were hoping for another dazzling comeback. The Goldeyes had other ideas as they added three security runs and closed the game out with a double play to win 7-2.

Nic Jackson knocked in both of the RedHawk runs on the night. He plated Zach Penprase in the third inning with a single and rocketed a double into the right center gap to score Carlo Cota in the fifth inning.

The RedHawks will travel to Sioux Falls, SD for a three-game series with the Pheasants. The next home series begins on Thursday, July 14 against the Kansas City T-Bones. Game time is 7:02 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
