May 11, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
NEED TO KNOW: After at 17-inning marathon on Sunday, the Albuquerque Isotopes (13-19) and Sacramento River Cats (17-15) were staring extra innings in the face again Monday afternoon at Raley Field in Sacramento, CA, but the River Cats' Juan Perez roped a walk off double into left field to give Sacramento a 5-4 win. The teams split the four-game series.
DECIDING MOMENT: The Isotopes exploded for a four-run, two-out rally in sixth to take a 4-1 lead. Jose Rivera got the offense rolling with a two-run double before Angelys Nina smashed a two-run homer over the left center field wall. The River Cats wasted no time regaining the momentum though with a two-run home half of the sixth. Albuquerque was never able to restart the offense, while the River Cats rolled with the momentum, tacking on a run in the eighth to tie the game. After a leadoff walk in the ninth, Sacramento's Juan Perez doubled to left, scoring the game-winning run.
SOMETHING CLEVER ABOUT CASTEEL: Catcher Ryan Casteel continued swinging his hot stick with a 3-for-4 afternoon. He now has hits in six straight games, and he has only failed to record a hit in three of the 15 games he's played in this season. The 23-year-old backstop has multi-hit games in four of his last five games and in seven games overall this season. During his current six-game streak, Casteel is batting .571 (12-for-21) with four runs scored, two double, a triple, four RBI and a walk.
CLUTCH RIVERA: Second baseman Jose Rivera entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and wasted no time contributing. His sixth inning two-out, two-RBI double ignited Albuquerque's offense. He added a single in the eighth and finished the day 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. It is his second-straight two-hit performance. He also now has hits in five of his last six games.
ON DECK: The Isotopes will return home to face the Fresno Grizzlies and River Cats during an eight-game homestand beginning Tuesday. Albuquerque will send right-hander David Hale (0-1, 9.26) to the hill, while Fresno is scheduled to go with right-hander Alex White (0-2, 5.82).
