
Rangers Purchase Contract of Thomas Field; Option Rougned Odor to Round Rock

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of Round Rock Express infielder Thomas Field the club announced Monday. Fellow infielder Rougned Odor has been optioned to Round Rock. Field will be in uniform for the Rangers tonight seeking his first major league action since 2013.
Field has put together an excellent start to his 2015 campaign, batting .298 (31-104) with five home runs, 13 RBIs, eight doubles and one triple. He has nine multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games this season. Field last played in the majors as a member of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2013. He saw action in 15 games going 4-26 (.154) with four runs and seven strikeouts. The call up marks Field's fourth stint in the big leagues as he spent time with the Colorado Rockies in 2011 and 2012. Field made his major league debut on September 11, 2011.
INF Rougned Odor comes to Round Rock after starting 29 games with the Rangers this season. The Venezuelan is batting .144 (13-90) on the year with one home run, nine RBIs and three doubles. Odor skipped the Triple-A level last season and made his major league debut on May 8, 2014 after 32 games with the Frisco RoughRiders (Double-A).
The Express complete a four-game series in Nashville tonight before returning to Dell Diamond on Tuesday, May 12 for a four-game series with the Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City Royals affiliate).
