Omaha Wins Both Games of Doubleheader with Oklahoma City

Papillion, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers offense led the way in both games of a doubleheader against the Oklahoma City Dodgers Monday, as Omaha won game one, 10-0, and won game two, 10-4, at Werner Park.
The Storm Chasers (17-14) handed the Dodgers their first back-to-back losses of the season in front of a crowd of 3,620.
Omaha's offense rolled in both games, piling up 20 runs and 34 hits in the two games combined to earn a split in the four-game series against Oklahoma City (22-9). The series split was the first for the Dodgers, who had won their first seven series of the season.
The Dodgers fell to 2-4 in doubleheaders in 2015 as Omaha posted the most combined runs in a doubleheader in the team's Pacific Coast League history.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Storm Chasers outhit the Dodgers, 18-4, on their way to a 10-0 win.
The 10 runs and 18 hits were the most allowed in a game by the Dodgers this season, who suffered their second shutout loss of 2015, and first since their season opener against Round Rock April 9.
Omaha took a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a RBI single from Francisco Pena.
The Storm Chasers connected on six straight hits in the third inning to score three runs and take a 4-0 lead. The six hits were the most allowed by the Dodgers in an inning this season.
The Storm Chasers then exploded for six more runs on another six hits in the fourth inning, including a three-run homer from Casey Kotchman, to take a 10-0 lead.

Pitcher Scott Baker made his fourth start of the season with Oklahoma City after making two starts with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Baker (1-2) allowed nine runs on 12 hits over a season-low 3.1 innings. He issued one walk and did not register a strikeout in the loss.
The nine runs allowed by Baker were the most since he allowed nine runs June 9, 2014 while pitching for the Texas Rangers against Cleveland. The 12 hits he allowed Monday were the most he'd given up since Aug. 21, 2007 when he allowed 14 hits against Seattle while pitching for the Minnesota Twins.
Omaha pitcher John Lamb (3-0) earned the win, combining with pitcher Casey Coleman in the four-hit shutout. Lamb registered eight strikeouts.
Darnell Sweeney and Buck Britton each finished with two hits and a stolen base for Oklahoma City in the first game. Sweeney's swipe in the first inning was his league-leading 16th of the season.
In game two, Omaha scored four runs on four hits in the first inning to put the Dodgers quickly in a 4-0 hole.
Sweeney hit a solo homer to right center field - his second homer of the season -- to get the Dodgers on the scoreboard in the third inning. The run ended a stretch of 17 scoreless innings for the Dodgers.
Omaha answered in the bottom of the frame with a run on a sac fly from Lane Adams to extend to a 5-1 lead. The Storm Chasers then added two more runs in the fourth inning on a pair of RBI doubles from Whit Merrifield and Jose Martinez for a 7-1 edge.
Austin Barnes connected on a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Oklahoma City to cut Omaha's lead to 7-3. The homer was the third of the season for the Dodgers catcher.
Jose Martinez answered with a three-run homer for the Storm Chasers in the sixth inning for a 10-3 Omaha advantage.
In the top of the seventh and final inning, back-to-back doubles from Scott Schebler and Brian Burgamy allowed the Dodgers to cut Omaha's lead to 10-4.
Dodgers starting pitcher Joe Wieland (3-1) took his first loss of the season, allowing seven runs on 11 hits, walking one and striking out one. The 11 hits were the most allowed by Wieland since June 2, 2011 when he allowed 11 hits while with High-A Myrtle Beach. The seven runs he allowed were the most since he gave up nine runs July 22, 2010 when he was with High-A Bakersfield.
Oklahoma City entered Monday's game leading the league with 267 strikeouts this season, but recorded just two total strikeouts in the two seven-inning games combined.
Omaha starting pitcher Joe Blanton (3-2) earned the second win of the day for Omaha.
Outfielder Jose Martinez went 4-for-4 for Omaha in game two with five RBI and three runs scored as the Storm Chasers outhit Oklahoma City, 16-7.
Sweeney picked up two more hits for Oklahoma City in game two to finish the day a team-leading 4-for-7.
The Dodgers continue their eight-game road trip and open a four-game series against New Orleans at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Zephyr Field in Metairie, La.
