Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars won their four-game series against the Burlington Bees but ended it in disappointing fashion, falling 9-2 Friday night in front of 13,031 fans at Elfstrom Stadium with all of the Bees' runs coming in the third inning. It was the final game of the regular season between the two clubs, and the Cougars finished 8-4 against the Bees, including 6-1 at home.

Starter Scott Hodsdon (4-7) had faced the minimum in the first two innings but left in the third without recording an out. He allowed seven runs -- none earned -- on five hits in two-plus innings, and reliever Justin Friend allowed the other two, one earned. Brent Lysander handled 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief, and Nick Walters worked a perfect ninth.

The Cougars got their first run in the sixth against Alex Caldera (6-6) on a Larry Cobb sacrifice fly and scored again in the ninth on Greg Dowling's RBI single.

The Cougars (7-9) head to Cedar Rapids for a three-game series beginning Saturday night at 7 CT. Scott Deal (5-3, 4.23) will face Esmerlin Jimenez (3-2, 3.97).
