
Chris Rosenbaum to Rancho Cucamonga; Alex Silversmith arrives from Tempe

July 4, 2008 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce today that catcher Chris Rosenbaum has been promoted to Rancho Cucamonga of the California League and that catcher Alex Silversmith will join the Kernels from the Tempe Angels (AZL).
Silversmith was signed by the Angels as a 2008 non-drafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic University. In 53 games, he batted .345 with 7 HR and 35 RBI. He also played three games at Tempe and was batting .143 (1-7) with two walks at the time he was called to Cedar Rapids.
Rosenbaum played 26 games for the Kernels, batting .256 (20-78) with six doubles, eight RBI and 11 runs scored.
Silversmith will join the team in Davenport and be available for tonight's 6 pm game with the Quad Cities River Bandits. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster stands at 25 active players with four players on the disabled list.
The Kernels return home to Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 5 and open a three game series with the Kane County Cougars.
