July 4, 2008 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Behind just three hits and no runs the Snappers fell in game four a four-game set with the LumberKings, 4-0. Starter Mike McCardell picked up the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits in seven innings.
Clinton got on the board early with a run in the second and two more in the third inning. The big blast came off the bat of Miguel Alfonzo, who cracked his third homer of the season over the left field wall in the second inning.
The LumberKings would then score again in the top of the fifth inning on a Mitch Moreland RBI-single to center. Moreland's single made it 4-0 after four and a half.
The Snappers were unable to do anything offensively tonight, compiling just three hits while striking out seven times. The three hits weren't nearly enough as they went on to fall to Clinton by a 4-0 score.
Relievers Chris Anderson and Charles Nolte both looked sharp for Beloit, pitching an inning a piece of scoreless relief.
With the loss the Snappers fell to 10-6 in the second half.
