Hawks Almost No-No Lugnuts
July 4, 2008 - Midwest League (MWL1)
South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN - The South Bend Silver Hawks managed to split their series with Lansing by defeating the Lugnuts tonight by the score of 2-0. This is the Hawks second straight shutout. The score was tied 0-0 in the 4th when Sean Coughlin crushed a double that scored Derrick Walker. That was all Josh Collmenter (9-4) needed. Collmenter turned in his best performance of the season. Collmenter pitched 7 no hit innings. This was the longest Josh has gone in a game this season so he was replaced by Clay Zavada in the 8th. Unfortunately Zavada gave up a hit, but the bullpen managed to preserve the shutout. Taylor Harbin and Sean Coughlin were the top hitters tonight. Harbin went 3 for 4 with a run scored and Coughlin went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. The Hawks will now begin a 3 game series against the Fort Wayne Wizards starting on Saturday. Game time is slated for 7:30 PM.
