GENEVA, IL - After the Kane County Cougars blew a three-run, ninth- inning lead, Dan Vogelbach lashed a walk-off RBI single to centerfield to defeat the Bowling Green Hot Rods 5-4 in ten innings on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

With the game tied at four in the bottom of the tenth, Pin-Chieh Chen led off the inning with a double against Hot Rods (18-7) reliever Marcus Jensen (L, 3-1). Gioskar Amaya bunted Chen to third before Vogelbach smacked the walk-off RBI single to give the Cougars (10-13) the 5-4 victory.

Cougars' reliever Jeff Antigua (W, 2-1) got out of a jam in the eighth inning that stranded the tying runner at the plate before blowing the save in the top of the ninth. Antigua allowed five hits, all singles, in the three-run ninth. With one out, and the bases loaded, Leonardo Reginatto blooped an RBI single into right field. With the bases still loaded for Joey Rickard, the right fielder flared a base hit into left center that plated two runs to tie the game at four. Antigua would toss a perfect tenth inning to pick up the victory.

The Cougars were cruising through the early part of the game carrying a four-run lead into the seventh inning. Peirce Johnson started for Kane County and threw a career-high 6.2 innings. The first hit he allowed was a swinging bunt that dribbled down the third base line with one out in the fourth inning. Johnson struck out four, gave up four hits and one run. He was knocked out of the game with two-outs in the seventh inning when Ryan Dunn roped an RBI triple into right center.

Kane County took an early lead thanks to two errors that allowed three unearned runs to score. Jeimer Candelario recorded an RBI single in the third inning as part of a 1-for-4 day. Vogelbach drove in one of his two runs with a fielder's choice in the third as well. Rock Shoulders gave the Cougars a commanding 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out RBI double.

The Cougars continue their six-game home stand with the middle affair of a three-game set with the Bowling Green Hot Rods at 6:30 on Thursday night. Right-hander Tayler Scott (1-1) will start for the Cougars against righty Dylan Floro (2-0). For tickets, please call (630) 232-8811 or visit www.kccougars.com.
