Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars have unveiled custom commemorative Star Wars jerseys that players and field staff will wear as part of the organization's Star Wars Night at this Saturday's May 4th game.
Cleverly placed on May 4th - "May The Fourth Be With You" - the evening is typically one of the Cougars' most popular theme nights each season, so much in fact, that a second Star Wars Night will take place later this season on August 31.
This Saturday's fun includes Star Wars-themed entertainment for fans from start to finish. All fans are encouraged to dress in costume and at 5:30 p.m., costumed fans can participate in an on-field parade. Cougars players will sport the jerseys for the first time in public at 6 p.m. with a pre-game autograph session that is open to all fans. Members of the Midwest Garrison, a group with authentic Star Wars costumes, will be on hand to pose for photos as well and will lead the pre-game parade. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
Other relevant contests will fill the evening including a trivia scavenger hunt, "Talk Like Yoda" contest and a costume contest as Cougars staff will be scouring the pre-game parade for some of the best costumed fans.
The evening culminates in a post-game performance by the Jesse White Tumblers and a spectacular post-game fireworks show specifically choreographed to the Star Wars movie score. All fans can run the bases following the fireworks show.
Fans will not want to delay in getting their tickets as seating will be limited for that evening. Tickets start at $8 for Saturday's game and can be ordered by calling the Cougars at (630) 232-8811 or ordering online at kccougars.com.
"Saturday's Star Wars Night is a perfect example of why fans enjoy coming to Cougars games as we encourage fans to truly participate in the fun," Cougars Promotions Director Jenni Brechtel said. "We're confident that fans will enjoy seeing the team wearing such unique jerseys that will surely take the Star Wars Night theme to a new level."
