South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend (May 1,2013)-Your Silver Hawks are starting off the season on the right foot. The team, currently in 2nd place in the Eastern Division, has started out the year with an outstanding 16-6 record and is looking to ride that momentum into May. Your Silver Hawks will be starting off the month with a six game home stand beginning Wednesday May, 1st at 7:05 at Coveleski Stadium.
The renovated stadium and support from the community have led to one of the most successful Aprils in the team's history. Highlighted by a blockbuster Opening Night with franchise record attendance of 5,650 fans, the Silver Hawks had total attendance 17,122 fans for the month, compared to 16,302 in 2012.
"Despite the poor weather and having three games rained out, we were still able to surpass our attendance from last April. Opening Night was very exciting and we are looking forward to having more nights just like that this summer. We are approaching the best months of our season. So, we are very much looking forward to having some nice warm evenings at the Cove. The fans of Michiana are very special and we are grateful to be in South Bend. We will continue to work extremely hard to make sure they have a great experience each and every time they come to the Cove." stated Joe Hart, Team President.
The games will be highlighted by great giveaways, games, and fun for the whole family. Upcoming promotions include Kids Eat Free Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, with $1 beer and soda all game long, a spectacular Friday Fireworks show postgame, and Saturdays 39" flat screen TVs are given away every inning. Bring your family and friends to the Cove and enjoy the beautiful spring weather at the ballpark.
The South Bend Silver Hawks are a Class A minor league team affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team is owned and operated by Swing-Batter-Swing, LLC whose sole shareholder is Andrew T. Berlin of Chicago, IL.
