Vipers Unveil 2014 NBA D-League Draft Picks and Trade

MCALLEN, Texas, November 1, 2014 - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers today selected Chane Behanan (6-6, 250, Louisville) with the 14th pick and Justin Jackson (6-8, 225, Cincinnati) with the 18th pick in the first round of the 2014 NBA D-League Draft. Following the draft, the Vipers were part of a five-team trade and acquired the rights to Earl Clark and Brandon Provost from the Iowa Energy. The Texas Legends acquire Justin Jackson and Iowa receives RGV's 2015 second round draft pick.

Behanan played at Louisville from 2011-13, where he helped lead the Cardinals to the 2013 NCAA Championship and was named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team. As a freshman he averaged 9.5 ppg and 7.6 rpg, and was named to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) All-Rookie Team. As a sophomore averaged 9.8 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Behanan played in 13 games his junior season and averaged 7.6 ppg and 6.5 rpg.

Clark (6-10, 234, Louisville) was selected 14th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA Draft. He has also played for the Orlando Magic (2010-12), Los Angeles Lakers (2012-13), Cleveland Cavaliers (2013-14) and New York Knicks (2014). Clark signed with the Iowa Energy on Nov. 1, 2014. He played collegiately at Louisville from 2006-09 and led the Cardinals to the 2009 Big East title.

Provost (6-3, 190, Texas-Pan American) finished his Broncs career second in three-point shooting (.452), third in three-pointers made (233), fourth in three-pointers attempted (516) and sixth in minutes played (2,994). For his career, Provost averaged 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting .442 from the field and .802 from the line in 92 games as a Bronc after transferring from Air Force Academy. Provost played for Stadtbergen in Germany last season, leading the team in scoring at 17.9 points per game on .471 shooting, including .331 from behind the arc. He also shot .854 from the line while averaging 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 25 games.

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers will hit the hardwood for the first time Nov. 10 when they host the NLBP's Fuerza Regia in an exhibition game at State Farm Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (CT). The 2014-15 regular season begins Nov. 14 and 15 when the Vipers host the Austin Spurs at home.
