
Vipers Fall 131-122 to Bakersfield

HIDALGO, Texas, TIME @ "MMMM d, yyyy" March 20, 2014 - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (29-15) fell 131-122 to the Bakersfield Jam (18-24) tonight at State Farm Arena.
The Vipers reached two season milestones tonight. RGV has connected on 718 three-point shots during the 2013-14 season, and set a new NBA Development League record of 60 three-point shots attempted in a single-game.
RGV was led by Houston Rockets assignees Robert Covington and Troy Daniels, who each scored 25 points. Darius Morris scored a double-double 21 points and 10 assists.
Ike Diogu led Bakersfield with a double-double 27 points and 11 rebounds. Jerel McNeal added 26 points, followed by Terrel Harris with 20 points.
The lead changed eight times throughout the first quarter as both teams fought for control. Harris connected on a three-pointer at the end of the first to put Bakersfield up 35-30. The Jam continued to build their lead throughout the second quarter. Bakersfield held a 22-point advantage three times. With 2:26 on the clock, Bakersfield was up 70-48. Bishop connected on a layup to send the Vipers on a 14-5 run to close their deficit to 75-62 at the half.
RGV fought back throughout the second half. With 3:32 on the clock in the third quarter, a layup from Morris put RGV within four points, 97-93. However, Harris followed with a layup and the Jam build their lead to 108-97 at the end of the third quarter. The Vipers were not able to recover and fell 131-122.
