Springfield Armor News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, announced the activation of forward Alejo Rodriguez prior to Thursday's game against the Erie BayHawks.
Rodriguez played in seven games with the Armor during the 2011-12 season, averaging 0.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game with Springfield during the team's Eastern Division Championship season. The former Iona Gael has played professionally in the Dominican Republic, Spain and Germany before a stint with the Canton Charge this past preseason. In one preseason game with the Charge this season, Rodriguez scored three points and pulled down five boards over nine minutes.
The 6-9 forward spent five years at Iona College, redshirting his sophomore season due to offseason back surgery. While at Iona, Rodriguez started 34-of-36 games his senior year, averaging 6.6 points and 6.7 rebounds as the Gaels appeared in both the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) and CIT (Collegeinsider.com Tournament) Championships, but came up short in both contests. Over a five-year career at Iona, Rodriguez averaged 6.7 points and 6.1 rebounds.
The Armor will continue their final three-game homestand tonight at 7:00 p.m. against the Erie BayHawks inside the MassMutual Center. For more information on the Armor, visit www.ArmorHoops.com or call (413) 746-3263. Keep up with the Armor on Facebook and Twitter !
