Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 19, 2014) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), played host to the Bakersfield Jam in the fourth matchup of the two teams this season. The Jam came to Frisco leading the series 2-1 and scrapped through a tight battle to take home one last victory.
The game saw 25 lead changes and 17 ties throughout four quarters, and the tone was set early with nine of those lead changes and 65 points scored in the first quarter. The Legends got off to a hot start shooting 52%, but the Jam had an answer for every shot taking a 34-31 lead heading into the second. The hot shooting continued for the home team who hit 50% from beyond the arc to grab a one-point lead at halftime. Bakersfield rebounded in the third to once again hold the advantage going into the final quarter. Facing an eight-point deficit, Mickey McConnell and Melvin Ely powered out seven points each for the Legends. Ely battled for the boards, and with just over two and half minutes to play the Legends tied up the score. Bakersfield's Ike Diogu had a quick response though to put the Jam back ahead for the final time as they took home a 114-106 victory.
PJ Hairston led the Legends with 29 points and 4 rebounds. Damion James and Ely each added double-doubles with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 16 points, 11 rebounds respectively. Diogu had a game-high 30 points and 19 rebounds for the Jam, while former-Legend Terrel Harris added 21 points.
The Legends will hit the road tomorrow to take on the Tulsa 66ers at 7pm for their first of four road games before returning home on April 5th. For more information on the team call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
