
D-Fenders Wrangle the Toros in Road Trip Finale

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Los Angeles D-Fenders (26-16) defeated the Austin Toros (16-27) 126-113 on Thursday night at Cedar Park Center.
The D-Fenders offense was hitting on all cylinders from the opening tip, as they hit their first five shots and 15 of 20 attempts in total in the first quarter. Carrying a nine-point edge into the second frame, it was the Los Angeles defense that made the difference in the second quarter. The D-Fenders held the Toros to 38.1 percent from the field and zero of seven from the three-point line in the period. Overall, the D-Fenders shot 59 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line in the first half, giving Los Angeles a 17-point lead.
The D-Fenders continued their efficient offensive effort by connecting on 64 percent of their attempts, including five three-point field goals in the third period. Furthermore, C.J. Williams had 13 points and Brandon Costner had 12 points in the third quarter alone. Topping the century-mark through just three frames, Los Angeles was unable to sustain their proficient shooting in the final twelve minutes, but managed to hold onto a double-digit victory. With the victory, Los Angeles finished their five-game road trip with a 4-1 record.
All finishing with 26 points each, Brandon Costner (26 points, 12 rebounds), James Southerland (26 points, seven rebounds) and C.J. Williams (26 points, 6/7 3FG) led the D-Fenders offensive effort. Additionally, Josh Magette (14 points, eight assists), Shawne Williams (13 points, seven assists) and Terrence Williams (10 points, 10 assists) finished in double-digits as well for Los Angeles.
The Toros were paced by Ronald "ËFlip' Murray, who pitched in 40 points. Joining Murray in double-digits for Austin were, Dexter Pittman (16 points), Courtney Fells (15 points), Greg Gantt (13 points) and Jonathan Simmons (11 points, nine rebounds).
In total, the D-Fenders held the edge in field goal percentage (54.9-44.8), three-point field goal percentage (42.9-36.8), rebounds (45-39), assists (30-21), steals (8-6) and turnovers (14-15). In addition, Los Angeles dominated the points in the paint battle 58 to 36.
Los Angeles will now return home to take on the Santa Cruz Warriors on Saturday, March 22nd, at 6:30pm, at Toyota Sports Center, in El Segundo, California.
