66ers Fight Back to Beat Legends

March 20, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Tulsa 66ers News Release

TULSA, Okla., March 20, 2014 - The Tulsa 66ers used a fourth-quarter comeback to claim a 110-100 win over the Texas Legends on Thursday night at the SpiritBank Event Center.

After trailing 81-75 through three quarters, Tulsa opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run to pull within one. Texas' Booker Woodfox hit a three to bring the Legends' lead back to four before the 66ers defense began a strong defensive stretch.

The 66ers defense forced missed shots and Texas turnovers to go ahead 91-90 at the seven minute mark, a lead they would hold the remainder of the night. Tulsa fought on to build a 15-3 run and outscore Texas 35-19 in the final quarter. The 66ers defense held Texas to 2-for-15 shooting in the final eight minutes of the game. Offensively, Tulsa shot 71.4 percent from the field in the fourth quarter and went 14-for-15 from the foul line.

"The lineup that we had in the fourth quarter had a lot of energy and effort and competed the right way," said 66ers Head Coach Darko Rajakovic. "Defensively, we started switching on pick-and-rolls with the four man, that way Damion James wasn't getting open looks and easy shots. That slowed Texas down and forced them to look for other options offensively."

Six Tulsa players scored in double figures as Dominic McGuire posted 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists and Reggie Williams totaled 20 points and three rebounds.

Xavier Alexander scored 16 points with five rebounds and five assists and Rodney Bartholomew collected 15 points and seven boards. The duo combined for 19 fourth-quarter points off the bench.

Mario Little and Isaiah Wilkerson scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The 66ers were outscored 34-31 in the opening quarter as Texas' Damion James scored 13 points on 6-for-7 shooting. Tulsa improved its defense on James, holding him to six points on 2-for-11 shooting the remainder of the game.

Tulsa pulled within one going into halftime but the Legends outscored Tulsa 26-21 in the third to hold a six point lead before the 66ers' fourth-quarter comeback.

The Legends (21-25) were led by Ricky Ledo with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Tulsa (21-24) is back in action with a road contest against the Iowa Energy on Saturday night. The 66ers have won five consecutive road games.
