Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - Right-hander Steve Delabar, a three-year veteran of the Fort Wayne Wizards pitching staff, has been activated from the disabled list.
Right-hander Robert Woodard, a 20th round selection by the San Diego Padres out of the University of North Carolina in 2007, has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, May 15.
Delabar was placed on the disabled list in late April after the San Diego Padres promoted right-hander Mat Latos, a top prospect in the Padres organization. Delabar, who spent the entire 2006 season in Fort Wayne and split time between the Wizards and the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League, is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in seven relief appearances this year. In 8.2 innings, the Kentucky native has allowed 10 hits, walked two and struck out eight.
Woodard is 1-2 with one save and a 4.50 ERA in nine appearances, including five starts. The North Carolina native has allowed 36 hits, walked nine and struck out 26 in 34 innings.
The Wizards open a four-game series against in-state rival, the South Bend SilverHawks (Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate) starting at 5:00 PM today. Friday's game will be a doubleheader due to the rain out of the finale of the two team's series on Sunday in South Bend. Both games today will be seven innings in length.
The SilverHawks arrival into Fort Wayne will mark the return of former Norwell standout Jarrod Parker as a professional. Parker was the Diamondbacks first round selection in the 2007 draft and the ninth overall selection.
The two teams will play a 4:00 PM contest on Saturday and wrap up the series with a 2:00 PM contest on Sunday.
