COMSTOCK PARK - Randy Boone threw a complete game shutout in game two of Friday's double header as Lansing defeated the Whitecaps, 5-0. The two teams split the twin bill as West Michigan took game one, 6-3.

Boone held the Whitecaps to three hits and one walk and he struck out seven in the seven inning game. It was the third time this year that West Michigan has been shutout. The Lugnuts scored four runs in the top of the first inning off Whitecaps starting pitcher Manny Miguelez. Each of the first four batters of the game scored for Lansing. Darrin Mastroianni started the rally with a walk plus steals of second and third before he scored on a hit by Justin Jackson.

John Tolisano had an RBI sacrifice fly later in the inning and two runs scored on a single by Raul Barron when left fielder Kody Kiaser committed an error after the ball landed in the outfield.

Lansing sent ten batters to the plate in the ninth inning, but Miguelez faced only eight of them. Mauricio Robles pitched second for the Whitecaps and threw four shutout innings with two hits and two walks allowed.

The fifth Lugnuts run of the night came in the sixth inning when Michael McDade doubled to lead off against Santo Mieses, then Moises Sierra delivered an RBI single. West Michigan had multiple runners in just one inning, the sixth and did not advance a runner beyond second base.
