Early lead turns into Whitecaps win game one

COMSTOCK PARK - A four run rally in the third inning gave the Whitecaps a 6-0 lead on the way to a 6-3 victory over Lansing in game one of a double header.

Kody Kaiser had the key hit for the ‘Caps in the fourth, a two-run double that put West Michigan in front, 5-0. Alfredo Figaro earned the victory to improve to 5-1, although he allowed three Lansing runs in the sixth following five shutout innings to start the game. Rudy Darrow retired the last five Lugnuts hitters of the game, all on ground balls to earn his second save of the season.

Joe Tucker went 3-for-3 for West Michigan with an RBI and a run scored. Chris Carlson had two RBI for West Michigan: One on a first inning single and another on a sacrifice fly in the third.
