Updated schedule increases games with rivals
July 27, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced the finalization of an updated ECHL schedule for 2004-05. With the termination of the Roanoke Express and Greensboro Generals memberships, league officials have released a revised 28-team schedule. The new schedule is a small variation from the original schedule, but contains additional games with four divisional opponents. The Augusta Lynx will now move into the East Division of the American Conference with Greenville, Columbia, Charlotte, Pee Dee and South Carolina, making a 6-team division.
The changes in the new schedule have three home date changes from the original schedule, however the number of weekend games (Friday â 9, Saturday â 13 and Sunday â 4) did not change. Greenville will now play 10 games (5 home, 5 road) with each of four division rivals â Charlotte, Columbia, Pee Dee and South Carolina. Instead of making a trip for back-to-back weekend games with the Mississippi Seawolves in late January, the Grrrowl will now travel to Beaumont, TX play the Texas Wildcatters that same weekend. Greenville will now make a quick trip to Trenton, NJ in early March during a 7-game road trip while the Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament takes over the BI-LO Center.
The Grrrowl will open with nine (9) of the first twelve (12) games in the BI-LO Center, including four (4) consecutive home games to start the season. Also, the Grrrowl will play on home ice for nine (9) of the final eleven (11) regular season games, including the longest home stand of the season with six (6) games from March 25th through April 5th.
For the entire schedule, log on to www.grrrowl.com for a full slate of games. All home games will start at 7:05pm, excluding Sunday afternoon games, which will have a 3:05pm puck drop. The annual "Grrrowl Education Day" will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 with a 10:35am start against the Louisiana IceGators.
The Grrrowl will open the 2004-05 schedule with a home game on Friday, October 22, 2004 against the Charlotte Checkers. Season tickets (starting at $238), mini-plans and flex packs are available now by contacting the Grrrowl office. Please call 467-4777 for additional ticket information.
