Bullies Unveil Revised 2004-05 Schedule

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL have announced their revised 72-game schedule for the upcoming 2004-05 season. The revision was necessitated following the termination of memberships in Greensboro (NC) and Roanoke (VA) by the ECHL Board of Governors.

For the first time since relocating to Atlantic City from Birmingham, Alabama prior to the 2001-02 season, the Bullies will open their schedule away from Historic Boardwalk Hall on Friday, October 22 against the Pee Dee Pride in Florence, South Carolina. The game will mark the second meeting in four years between the Bullies and Pride and the first ever visit by Atlantic City to the Florence City-County Civic Center. In their only previous meeting, Pee Dee defeated the Bullies 4-3 in a shootout at Boardwalk Hall on January 26, 2003.

Opening Night 2004 at Boardwalk Hall will take place the following Friday, October 29 when the Bullies will host its in-state rival, the Trenton Titans. Prior to the game, the Bullies will honor recently retired Captain Stefan Rivard by raising his #21 jersey to the rafters.

The only home date change in the revised schedule is the December 22 game vs. Dayton, which has been moved to Sunday, November 14. It will be the Bombers first appearance at Boardwalk Hall since December 2002.

The Bullies will play 28 of their 36 home games on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. That's an increase of 4 games from the 24 weekend home dates in 2003-04. All 6 Sunday home games will be 2:05PM start times. The Bullies will continue their tradition of catering to families with three additional 2:05PM matinee games on Friday, December 31 vs. Trenton, Saturday, February 12 vs. Reading and Saturday, March 5 vs. Johnstown. Last season, the Bullies averaged 4,694 fans over five afternoon home games that were held on either Saturday or Sunday. All other home games will begin at 7:05PM.

The 2004-05 revised schedule features a heavy dosage of current divisional opponents with 63 games inside the division, and a more balanced schedule. The Bullies will play every team in the North Division at least 6 times, while facing off against Trenton, Northern Division Champion Reading, Johnstown and Dayton 10 times each.

Outside the North Division, the Bullies will welcome to Atlantic City fellow National Conference opponents Long Beach on November 24 and November 26 and Bakersfield on January 12, and first-time visitor and former ECHL Kelly Cup Champions South Carolina of the American Conference on November 20.

An addition to the revised schedule includes a two-game series with the Charlotte Checkers. The Bullies will visit Cricket Arena on November 10, followed by a re-match on March 4 at Boardwalk Hall. Also, the Bullies and Greenville Grrrowl will meet in a battle of former ECHL Kelly Cup Champions for the first time since the Bullies relocated to South Jersey on October 23 at the Bi-Lo Center.

Another first includes the first New Year's Eve game to be played at Boardwalk Hall, as the Bullies host Trenton on December 31.

The Bullies had a record of 34-15-4 last season against its 2004-05 opponents.
