Manchester Monarchs News Release

The much-anticipated match-up between the two teams with the best records in the American Hockey League takes place tonight at 7:05 p.m. when the Manchester Monarchs meet the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Wachovia Spectrum.

The Monarchs lead the AHL's Atlantic Division with a record of 21-3-1-1 and 44 points. The Phantoms lead the AHL's East Division with a record of 20-5-1-0 and 41 points.

Thirteen of the Phantoms 20 wins have come at the Wachovia Spectrum this season. Philadelphia enters tonight's contest with an overall home ice record of 13-1-1-0.

The Monarchs are 10-3-0-1 in 14 road games this season, but they've lost their last three on the road after setting a team record with six straight road wins.

The Phantoms, who earlier this season set a new league record with 17 straight wins, have won two straight contests, including Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Springfield Falcons at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The Monarchs, 1-2-1-1 in the five games since their team-record 13-game winning streak came to an end against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday, December 5, enter tonight's game with the top-scoring offense in the AHL. The Monarchs lead the league with 109 goals, 196 assists and 305 points.

Three of the top four scorers in the AHL call Manchester home. Center Michael Cammalleri leads the league with 22 goals, 43 points (22-21=43) and 11 power play goals. Center Yanick Lehoux ranks second in the league with 39 points (17-22=39) and right wing Tom Kostopoulos, who collected two of the Monarchs four goals in their 5-4 loss to the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, ranks fourth in the league with 34 points (14-20=34).
