Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Hamilton Bulldogs won their fourth consecutive game as they defeated the AHL North Division leading Manitoba Moose 4-3 at the MTS Centre on Friday night.
The Bulldogs record through 27 games now stands at 11 wins, 11 losses, 4 ties and 1 overtime loss.
Corey Locke opened the scoring for the Bulldogs just 55 seconds into the game. Locke scored his team leading eighth goal of the season by banking the puck off Moose goaltender Alex Auld and into the net.
Hamilton went ahead 2-0, when Locke fed Higgins with a saucer pass on a two-on-one at 12:01 of the first period. Higgins took the pass and one-timed it into the goal.
Manitoba scored once before the period was out, as Moose defenceman Joe DiPenta took a wrist shot from the point that fooled Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis. Moose forward Alexandre Burrows picked up the lone assist at 15:34.
Just 55 seconds into the second period the Bulldogs scored again. Benjamin Carpentier grabbed the puck at the Moose blue line, and went in on a 2-on-1 with Corey Locke. Carpentier elected not to pass and fired a shot past the glove hand of Auld.
Steve Ott scored Hamilton's fourth goal of the game at 8:20. Gavin Morgan who cut to the net, forced Auld to make the first save. Ott would then picked up the rebound and slide the puck into the Moose goal.
Winnipeg native Lee Goren gave the Moose their second goal of the game at 12:58, while shorthanded.
Former Bulldogs forward Peter Sarno would add one more goal for the Moose at 13:17 of the third period.
In goal, Bulldogs netminder Yann Danis picked up the win by making 27 saves. Alex Auld took the loss for the Moose and stopped 29 of 33 shots.
