Twins Sign Bowden, Assign him to Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY - The Minnesota Twins have signed right-handed pitcher Michael Bowden to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Rochester.

The 28-year-old appeared in 24 games - nine starts - with Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk while pitching to a 1.91 ERA (16 ER, 75.1 IP) with 60 hits, 20 walks and 52 strikeouts. Bowden had a 2.86 ERA as a reliever but in nine starts, had a 1.66 ERA (9 ER, 48.2 IP). He was selected as a Triple-A All-Star this season but has not pitched since July 12 after exercising an out on July 15.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Greg Peavey has been sent to Double-A. Peavey was 1-5 with a 5.45 ERA (22 ER, 36.1 IP) in seven starts with the Red Wings. He was selected from the New York Mets in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft in December.
