Indianapolis Indians News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Indianapolis Indians trailed 2-1 when Erich Weiss stepped to the plate in the sixth inning, but he clubbed his second home run of the season and the Tribe rolled to a 7-2 win over the Rochester Red Wings. The triumph gives the Tribe its first four-game winning streak of the season.

The pivotal inning of the night for Indianapolis (29-27) proved to be the sixth. With one out, Max Moroff skied a double to right-center field. That setup Weiss who hit a liner down the right-field line, and the ball stayed fair for the go-ahead homer. Pablo Reyes followed with a walk and would score on a sacrifice fly by Christopher Bostick later in the frame.

The deficit erased in the sixth was the second of the night for the Indians, as Jose Osuna tied the game briefly in the top of the third. With Kevin Newman aboard at third base, Osuna lined a single to right field to knot the game, 1-1.

The margin of victory swelled thanks to a two-run blast in the top of the ninth. Kevin Kramer launched his team-leading seventh home run of the season to put the game out of reach.

Alex McRae (2-5) worked five innings and avoided the big inning. He limited Rochester to just two runs and earned the win. The bullpen combined to fire four shutout innings and didn't allow a hit to help seal the victory.

Indy will go for the sweep of the Red Wings on Thursday afternoon; first pitch is set for 12:35 p.m. The Indians return to Victory Field on Monday, June 11 to face the Toledo Mud Hens.
