Knights Drop Wednesday's Game to Chiefs 7-0

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game two of a three-game series to the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. Despite the loss, the Knights have won eight of their last 12 games.

The Chiefs got on the scoreboard early in the first inning when second baseman Irving Falu homered off of Charlotte RHP Jordan Stephens (2-2, 4.45). Stephens, who made his fifth start with Charlotte, surrendered seven runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking one batter in four innings of work.

The Charlotte bullpen was sharp on Wednesday night as RHP Robbie Ross Jr., RHP Tyler Danish, and RHP Ricardo Pinto combined for three shutout innings. Charlotte outfielder Mason Robbins led the way at the plate for the club, notching two hits on the night to extend his hit streak to seven-straight games.

RHP Austin Voth (4-3, 4.35) earned the win for the Chiefs after tossing seven shutout innings.

The Knights will induct former Charlotte Knights slugger Brian Daubach into the Charlotte Baseball Round Table of Honor before the game on Thursday. Daubach is the current hitting coach for the Syracuse Chiefs.

Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. All fans can enjoy $1 small sodas while all fans 21 years old and older can enjoy $3 domestic drafts and $5 craft drafts. Pre-game radio coverage of Thursday's 7:04 p.m. game will begin at 6:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com from BB&T Ballpark. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action. RHP Donny Roach will take the mound for Charlotte in the finale.
