Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Bisons fell in their second straight contest against the Mud Hens, 4-1, in Toledo Wednesday night. A four-run fourth inning lifted Toledo to the victory.

After three scoreless innings, the Mud Hens snapped the tie and took a 4-0 lead in the fourth. This was all the offense Toledo needed to best a Buffalo offense that only registered five hits in the game.

Mikie Mahtook drove a two-run home run to left for the first runs of the inning. Grayson Greiner then extended the lead with an RBI-single to drive home Jim Adduci, who also singled earlier in the inning. On the hit, the ball got passed Roemon Fields, allowing Jason Krizan to score from first.

In the fifth, the Bisons plated their only run of the game. Rowdy Tellez jumped on an elevated fastball from rehabbing Mud Hens' starter Jordan Zimmerman and slugged an opposite-field solo shot to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Herd had chances to score in both the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to bring home a run. In the sixth, Dwight Smith Jr. got on base with a double, but was caught trying to steal third. In the seventh, Tellez continued his productive day at the plate hitting a one-out double, but he was left stranded at second base.

After the Toledo relievers closed out Tuesday night's game by tossing four scoreless innings, they did much of the same Wednesday. The trio of Caleb Thielbar, Victor Alcantara and closer Johnny Barbato held the Bisons to just two hits in the final 4.2 innings of the game.
