Selections from tonight's Game Notes (attached in PDF):

Tonight's Game: The Gwinnett Stripers continue a six-game homestand tonight with game two of a three-game series vs. the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies). The Stripers (24-31) are fourth in the IL South Division, trailing Durham (1st, 31-25) by 6.5 games, Norfolk (2nd, 29-25) by 5.5 games and Charlotte (3rd, 25-32) by winning percentage.

Tonight's Starting Pitcher Mike Soroka: The 20-year-old right-hander, on the Atlanta Braves' 10-day disabled list since 5/14 (right shoulder strain), makes a rehab start for the Stripers tonight in game two of this three-game series vs. Lehigh Valley. It is his 67th career Minor League appearance (65th start). Soroka opened the season with Gwinnett, going 2-0 with a 1.99 ERA (5 ER in 22.2 IP) in four starts on his Triple-A debut. His last start with the Stripers on 4/23 at Rochester (G1 of DH) was a 7.0-inning complete-game shutout (3 H, 3 BB, 4 SO) in a 1-0 victory. He had his contract selected by Atlanta on 5/1 and made his Major League debut that night at the New York Mets, starting opposite Noah Syndergaard. He went 6.0 innings (6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 HR, 0 BB, 5 SO) to earn his first career MLB victory as the Braves won 3-2. Soroka went on to make two more starts for Atlanta, going 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA (6 ER in 14.2 IP) and a .333 BAA before being placed on the disabled list.

He has hit safely in every game at Coolray Field since 4/17, batting .352 (19-for-54, 9 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 14 R, 10 RBI) in that span. In 40 total games with Gwinnett, Santana is batting .255 (42-for-165, 12 2B, 3 3B, 7 HR, 25 R, 19 RBI, 6 SB). He ranks among IL leaders in triples (T-3rd), extra-base hits (T-7th, 22) and slugging percentage (10th, .491).
