
Tough Man Kaczowka Reassigned from Worcester

Peoria, Ill. (January 28, 2005) â Rivermen Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced today that left wing David Kaczowka has been reassigned from the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats.
Kaczowka â a 6-foot-2, 230-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan â amassed seven (7) penalty minutes (PIM) in two road games for Worcester in his second reassignment of the year. With the Rivermen this season, the 23-year-old tough man has collected 119 penalty minutes (PIM) in 15 games; he has registered PIM in every game but two while with Peoria. The fourth-year professional had an eight-game PIM streak with 55 PIM from October 22 to December 28 and then racked up 64 PIM in a current five-game streak before his reassignment.
Kaczowka collected 12 PIM in two games to open the season with the IceCats.

Rivermen Captain and center Trevor Baker and defenseman Chad Starling have been activated from the 7-day & 30-day injured reserve lists, respectively. Rookie left wing Kris Kasper has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve. Second-year right wing Joe Pereira, who had two assists and 55 PIM in 16 games with the Rivermen this season, has been released.
The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â The Premier "AA" Hockey League. On Friday, January 28, the Rivermen welcome the San Diego Gulls to Carver Arena for the first time in their ECHL membership. Game time is 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, January 29, Peoria battles the archrival Toledo Storm at Carver Arena. Game time is 8:00 p.m. It is Caterpillar Night. The first 2,500 fans will receive a CD holder, courtesy of Caterpillar. It is also a Kaufman Wellness Center Night. Fans may receive a free spinal check and back massage for a $10 donation to the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
