
IceGators acquire Jim Shepherd from Augusta

Lafayette, LA â Louisiana IceGators Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Todd Gordon today announced the team has acquired veteran forward Jim Shepherd from Augusta in exchange for right wing Dan Sullivan.
Shepherd, is in his 7th professional season, playing 27 games for the Augusta Lynx, scoring 18 points (9-9-18). A native of Kingston, Ontario, Shepherd has played for seven pro teams in North America. His best year statistically was 1998-99 when he scored 62 points (21-41-62) for the Mobile Mysticks and added 4 points (2-2-4) in five games for the Houston Aeros of the IHL. The 27 year old winger will join the IceGators in time for both games this weekend against the Florida Everblades.
"Jim Shepherd is a proven veteran who will help our team on the offensive end" said Gordon. "I expect to use him in all situations and his attitude in the locker room will be a big boost down the stretch."
In another player move, the Houston Aeros have reassigned goaltender Kyle Kettles to the IceGators. Kettles last played for Louisiana on December 18, 2004, he is expected to see action this weekend against the Florida Everblades.
The IceGators next home game is Wednesday, February 2 when the Pensacola Ice Pilots visit the "Frozen Swamp" This game will be a "Cheap Date Wednesday" when fans can buy one ticket and get a second one free. This will also be a "Ladies Night" complete with Margarita specials and a post game "Date-A-Gator" player auction with proceeds to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I n addition, A Bryan Jewelers is sponsoring a "Diamond Giveaway" as the first 500 ladies 18 and older through the door will receive a Cubic Zirconium. One of the jewels is specially marked and if you take it to A Bryan Jewelers before February 11, 2005 it will be exchanged for a diamond valued at $3,000.
