Albuquerque (5-3) salvaged the final game of the home stand defeating Omaha 3-2 at Isotopes Park Thursday morning. SS Dee Gordon knocked in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning leading to the first victory of the year over the Storm Chasers (4-4). Gordon also swiped his fifth base of the season in the sixth inning tying Isotope Alex Castellanos for the Pacific Coast League lead.

Omaha starting left-handed pitcher Ryan Verdugo (0-1, 7.71) controlled the beginning of Thursday's day game giving up two runs in his outing, but both were unearned. He walked three and struck out six. Dan Wheeler took the loss (0-1, 3.60) giving up a run in his 1.1 innings of relief.

Albuquerque righty Matt Magill got into trouble in the top of the second inning walking the bases loaded before recording an out. Singles by CF Paulo Orlando (1-for-4) and LF David Lough (1-for-3) put Omaha in front 2-0. All three outs in the frame came via the strikeout.

The Isotopes were stifled by Verdugo early but came through in the bottom half of the fourth inning with the help of an error. 3B Brian Barden (1-for-3) led off the inning which a single to center field. LF Nick Buss (1-for-4) pushed Barden up a base with a grounder to second baseman when SS Christian Colon dropped the toss attempting to turn two. SS Dee Gordon (3-for-4) jumped on the first pitch doubling (4) for the second time of the game scoring Barden and Buss on the play tying the game at two.

Albuquerque took the lead in the sixth inning on Gordon's third hit of the game. Buss doubled (2) to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a sacrifice fly by catcher Jesus Flores. Gordon's single sent Buss home as the go-ahead run putting the Isotopes in front 3-2.

Peter Moylan earned the victory (1-0, 7.71) pitching 1.2 scoreless innings out of the pen. Moylan, Gieson Aguasviva, Josh Wall and Shawn Tolleson combined for four scoreless innings. The Storm Chasers only two runs of the day came in the second inning. Tolleson replaced Wall in the ninth inheriting a runner on first and no outs. Tolleson recorded the save (2) tossing a perfect ninth.

Magill struggled through the second inning allowing two runs in the frame, but he settled in to retire 11 Storm Chasers in a row beginning with one out in the second inning. He struck out five batters during that stretch. Magill logged five innings of work giving up four hits and three walks, all in the second. He also struck out seven hitters, the most he has punched out at the Triple-A level after fanning two in his Triple-A debut on April 5.

The Isotopes head to Iowa to begin their first road trip of the 2013 season in Iowa. Albuquerque will play a four-game series against the I-Cubs sending RHP Blake Johnson (0-0, 9.00) to the mound against Iowa's RHP Nick Struck (0-1, 7.20) to open the series. The Isotopes finish the road trip in Omaha then return to Albuquerque to begin a four-game home stand Saturday April 20 at 7:05 PM against Oklahoma City.
