Reno Aces News Release
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah-The Reno Aces dropped both games of a doubleheader Wednesday night, 9-4 and 5-3, against the Salt Lake Bees at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
Former Aces RHP Barry Enright was roughed up by the Aces in the top of the first of Game One, giving up four runs on three hits. Brad Snyder hit his first home run of the season for Reno, a three-run shot to right field to give the Aces an early lead.
Enright's Bees teammates returned the favor throughout the next two frames, knocking out eight runs on five hits off Reno RHP Randall Delgado. Delgado, who was charged with the loss, gave up a grand slam to Luis Rodriguez to give Salt Lake a lead they would not surrender.
The Aces bullpen allowed just one more run through 4.1 innings to end the game.
Enright came out with the win, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings to round out his appearance.
Game Two proved to be another battle for Reno, who again held an early lead over Salt Lake. The Aces manufactured a run each in the second and third innings, before Salt Lake posted a three-run fourth frame.
Aiming for a late-inning comeback, Ed Easley doubled to left field in the sixth to plate Taylor Harbin, tangling the teams at three runs apiece.
Rodriguez again squashed the Aces chance at a win, this time doubling down the left field line drive home two runs.
Aces LHP Joe Paterson was charged with the loss, giving up four runs-three earned-on five hits in 2.2 innings of relief.
LHP Mitch Stetter was charged with a blown save for giving up the run to Easley, but ultimately earned the win. Bees reliever Michael Kohn was credited with his first save of the season.
D-backs No. 7 prospect Chris Owings went 4-for-7 on the night with a run scored. Didi Gregorius, on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment with the Aces, went 2-for-7 on the night with a run scored as the designated hitter and leadoff batter.
The series wraps up Thursday night at Spring Mobile Ballpark. RHP Chase Anderson gets the nod for Reno, while the Bees will counter with RHP Billy Buckner. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.
Reno returns to Aces Ballpark for the 2013 home opener on Friday, April 12. Tickets are on sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
