Tacoma Rainiers News Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Tacoma Rainiers posted six runs in the seventh inning en route to stretching the club's winning to three games with a 7-4 comeback victory over the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field on Wednesday night

Tacoma trailed 4-1 through six innings before taking the lead for good in the top of the next frame. Infielder Nick Franklin brought the Rainiers within two runs with a one-out RBI-double, and Carlos Peguero tied the score with a two-run single two batters later.

The go-ahead run came courtesy of catcher Mike Zunino, who drove in Alex Liddi with a single to left field to give the Rainiers a 5-4 edge. The RBI was Zunino's 17th over six games this season - the most produced by any player in the minor leagues.

Peguero's 3-for-4 effort led a Rainiers lineup that collected a combined 13 hits. The outfielder doubled, hit his first home run of the season and drove in three runs. He and Eric Thames have both hit safely in each of the team's first seven games played this season.

Franklin and outfielder Endy Chavez each turned in two-hit efforts. Wednesday's contest marked Franklin's season debut after the infielder began the season battling flu-like symptoms.

Reliever Jhonny Nunez (1-0) earned the win after holding the River Cats to five hits through 1.2 scoreless innings. Right-hander Danny Farquhar earned the team's first save of the season following a shutout inning in the ninth.

Tacoma starter Andrew Carraway surrendered four runs on 10 hits, struck out three and walked two over 4.2 innings in his second start this season.

The Rainiers (5-3) look to secure a series sweep in the final game of the club's four-game set at Sacramento tomorrow, April 11. Right-hander Jeremy Bonderman (0-0, 4.50) is slated to start for Tacoma in the contest against right-hander Dan Straily (0-0, -.--) for the River Cats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
