April 10, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Joe Dillon drove in the go-ahead run with a bloop single to right field in the seventh inning to lift the Isotopes to a 3-2 victory and complete a four-game sweep of the Iowa Cubs Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque's 4-0 start to begin the 2005 season is a franchise best.

Ryan Jorgensen led off the seventh with his second single of the game and moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt. After a ground out, Dillon drove in the decisive run off reliever Roberto Novoa (0-1). The hit made a winner out of Randy Messenger (1-0), who pitched two perfect innings in relief of starter Frank Castillo. Castillo allowed two runs in five innings in his first start of the season.

The ‘Topes led 2-0 through the first four innings on a sacrifice fly by Dillon in the third and a solo home run by Jason Stokes in the fourth. For Stokes, it was his second homer of the year and his seventh RBI in four games.

Jim Crowell allowed one hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth to earn his third save in as many chances.

The Isotopes' season-opening home stand continues Monday night when they host the Omaha Royals in the first game of a four-game set beginning at 7:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Jeff Fulchino is expected to start for Albuquerque. Tickets are currently on sale for the rest of the season at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at local Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, and Ticketmaster by phone at 883-7800.
