Tomas Sholl Selected to 2019 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic

BOISE, Idaho - The ECHL announced the rosters on Monday for the 2019 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic held on Monday, Jan. 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET from Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio, and Idaho Steelheads goaltender Tomas Sholl has been selected to represent the Steelheads for the Mountain Division, making his first professional All-Star appearance.

Sholl, 24, will be Idaho's lone representative, with each team in the league sending one player, outside of the host city. The Hermosa Beach, Calif., native has played 16 games for the Steelheads this season, earning a 12-4-0 record with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage with two shutouts. He currently sits atop the ECHL in save percentage and second in goals-against average.

The Bowling Green State University graduate joined the Steelheads midway through the 2017-18 season and has exceled in his time in Idaho, already qualifying for the second-best career goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts for a Steelheads ECHL goaltender in just 27 games played. In his Steelheads career, Sholl is 21-4-2 with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage with six shutouts.

"Sholl has been extremely consistent," said Steelheads Head Coach Neil Graham. "He goes about his business quietly and puts in the work on and off the ice. He is a leader on our hockey team, and we're thrilled that he is being rewarded for all his efforts with the honor of being named to the All-Star Classic."

The 2019 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic will begin at 5:00 p.m. MT, televised live exclusively on NHL Network. The rosters for the Eastern Conference and Western Conference All-Stars were determined in a vote of coaches, team captains, media relations directors, broadcasters and members of the media.

For the second consecutive year, the CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic will feature a 3-on-3 tournament with four teams competing for the top spot. New in 2019, the host team will make up two of the four teams and face-off against the other two teams made up of All-Star players from the Eastern and Western Conference. These four teams will compete in a 3-on-3 tournament with rally scoring in order to crown a winner. The 2019 CCM/ECHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place in between rounds of the tournament, highlighting the talents of the ECHL Players, and showcasing the future of hockey as they develop in the League.

The 12th class of the ECHL Hall of Fame will be officially inducted at a luncheon, presented by BFL CANADA and Sutton Special Risk, on Sunday, January 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the SeaGate Center, in conjunction with the Toledo Hockey Hall of Fame, presented by Cooper Tire.

There have been 67 players from the ECHL All-Star Game have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 51 since 2002 when the lineups began having players who coaches felt were prospects to move up to a higher level.

The Steelheads return to CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7:10 p.m. against the Toledo Walleye.
