Tobias Helps Cutters to Tenth Straight Win

The Williamsport Crosscutters continued their historic start to the 2015 season on Monday night in Mahoning Valley while waiting out Mother Nature. The Cutters won their tenth consecutive game to start the 2015 season with a 5-2 win against the Scrappers. The Crosscutters tie a franchise record for the second longest winning streak in franchise history.

Josh Tobias hit his first career home run in the second inning on what would be the first pitch that he would see. Tobias followed that up with an RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Cutters a 2-0 lead. Mitch Gueller picked up his second win in his second start of the season for Williamsport. The Crosscutters would get six innings out of Gueller before making a call to the bullpen. Gueller allowed five hits while surrendering two earned runs and striking out five batters.

The Cutters lead from start to finish as they would plate two runs in the fifth inning, one in the sixth and one in the seventh. Gregori Rivero drove in his lone run of the night with an RBI double in the fifth inning. Williamsport finished the game with four doubles and one home run. Grenny Cumana rounded out the scoring for the Cutters with an RBI single in the seventh inning.

The Scrappers found their way onto the scoreboard in the sixth inning against Gueller plating two runs. Rob Tasin earned his third save in a Cutters uniform tossing a perfect ninth inning. Skylar Hunter and Feliberto Sanchez also tossed one scoreless inning for the Cutters
