Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Granville, WV (6/29/15)- Backed by home runs from Danny De La Calle and Hector Montes, the Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the West Virginia Black Bears by a score of 7-1 on Monday evening at Monongalia County Ballpark.
The Renegades scored a pair of runs in the top of the third inning when center fielder Angel Moreno hit an RBI triple and scored second baseman Jake Cronenworth, who walked right before Moreno's triple. First baseman Hector Montes brought in Moreno two batters later to give Hudson Valley the 2-0 lead.
West Virginia cut the lead in half momentarily in the bottom of the third on shortstop Erik Forgione's RBI ground out but Hudson Valley's catcher Danny De La Calle hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to extend the Renegades lead to 5-1
In the top of the seventh inning, Montes continued his hot hitting against the West Virginia pitching staff as he hit a two-run home run to give the 'Gades a 7-1 lead. That would cap off the scoring for the evening as the Renegades picked up their second straight win against West Virginia. Hudson Valley improves to 6-4 on the season while West Virginia falls to 4-6.
Travis Ott (1-0) started for Hudson Valley and picked up his first win of the season. In five innings of work, he allowed just one run off four hits and struck out five batters. Justin McCalvin was impressive out of the bullpen for the Renegades as he tossed three scoreless innings and Brad Wallace pitched a perfect ninth inning. West Virginia's start Bret Helton (0-2) allowed three runs in three innings in the loss.
Notes: In the two games against West Virginia, Hector Montes has produced some big offensive numbers. He has gone four-for-eight with 10 RBI, three home runs and has scored three runs. After tonight, Montes now has 14 RBI on the season and is among the league leaders in that category.

Hudson Valley returns home on Wednesday, July 1 as they host the Brooklyn Cyclones at 7:05pm. Wednesday evening is "American Road Trip Night" at Dutchess Stadium.
