TinCaps Walk Away with 10-1 Win

(Eastlake, OH)- Fort Wayne walked five times in the seventh inning, and scored five runs with the help of just three hits. The TinCaps snapped Lake County's four game win streak, with a 10-1 win at Classic Park on Monday night.

The Captains took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a fielding error by BJ Guinn. Jordan Casas scored the run after reaching a double down the line to left.

The TinCaps tied the score at one in the third. Guinn singled right back up the middle to start the inning. Chris Bisson singled to center putting runners on first and second. After a sacrifice bunt, Rymer Liriano singled to right scoring Guinn; Bisson tried to score from second but was thrown out by Carlos Moncrief.

In the fourth inning, Luis Domoromo and Emmanuel Quiles both singled to set the table for Fort Wayne. Guinn singled to left center scoring Domoromo for a 2-1 lead.

The TinCaps made it 3-1 in the fifth inning, Liriano walked, stole second base and went to third on an error and scored on a Goodnight wild pitch.

Fort Wayne loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning, with a walk, an error and a single. Joey Mahalec walked Bisson making it 9-1. Rico Noel singled to right field scoring Quiles, giving the TinCaps a 10-1 lead.

Matt Jackson (4-1) pitched very well for Fort Wayne picking up the win, working six innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits, walking four and striking out five. Mike Goodnight (5-6) suffered his third straight loss, allowing three runs, two earned on seven hits, walking two and striking out three. Nate Striz in relief for Lake County worked pitched two innings, allowing five runs on two hits, walking five and striking out two.

Lake County and Fort Wayne continue their three game series from Classic Park at 7:00PM on Tuesday night. The Captains will start RHP Cole Cook (2-8) against a TBA for the TinCaps. Catch all the action on AM1330 WELW or online at captainsbaseball.com.
