Bees Add 2011 5th Round Pick Taylor

BURLINGTON, IA (June 26) -C Beau Taylor has been added to the roster from the Oakland A's short-season "A" affiliate, the Vermont Lake Monsters. Taylor, the first 2011 pick to advance to Burlington, will be in uniform for tonight's 6:30 series- opening game against Kane County at Community Field. C John Nester has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to June 26. RHP Matthew Thomsen was also transferred to A's facility in Arizona where he will begin a rehabilitation stint.

Taylor hit .118 (2-17) in just four games for the Lake Monsters. The Rockledge, Florida native was picked out of the University of Central Florida, where he put together a 26-game hitting streak earlier this season that tied the school record. He was named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List and hit .354, committing just one error in 61 games played.

The Bees begin a six-game home stand tonight. It's Little League Recognition Night with all kids and coaches in uniform getting in free. The Bees will host a pre-game parade of teams at 6:15 tonight. It's also Dollar Monday presented by Miller Lite. Adult general admission tickets are just $2.00 while senior/student general admission tickets, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and cans of Pepsi are just $1.00. 16-ounce cans of Miller Lite and Coors Lite are just $3.25. RHP Leondy Perez (1-7, 3.13) gets the start for Kane County against RHP Blake Hassebrock (4-2, 1.71) for Burlington.
