Dayton, Ohio-Ronald Torreyes and Tucker Barnhart each collected three hits and Daniel Corcino fired seven strong innings as the Dayton Dragons won their third straight game, defeating the Lansing Lugnuts 9-2 on Monday night at Fifth Third Field. A crowd of 8,343 saw the Dragons 809th consecutive sell-out at Fifth Third Field, five short of the all-time sports record.

The Dragons scored two runs in the third to take an early lead. Barnhart singled to left and went around to third when Billy Hamilton reached on an error. Barnhart scored on a wild pitch, and after Hamilton stole second, he scored on Torreyes' single to left to make it 2-0.

Dayton held the lead until Lansing's Matt Nuzzo belted a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2.

But Dayton jumped back ahead with a six-run bottom of the seventh. Barnhart led off the inning with line drive single to right and went to second on Theo Bowe's ground ball hit to right. Hamilton reached on a bunt single and on the play, Barnhart and Bowe scored when Lansing pitcher Tyler Powell threw wildly to first to try to get Hamilton. Torreyes then lined a hit to center to bring in Hamilton and make it 5-2. Torreyes stole second, went to third on a fielder's choice, and scored on Donald Lutz's single to right to make it 6-2. David Vidal followed with an RBI double, and Juan Duran's sacrifice fly brought in Lutz to give Dayton an 8-2 lead. Dayton added another run in the ninth to close out the scoring.

Corcino, the Dragons starting pitcher, was exceptional. Corcino (8-3) allowed only an infield single over the first six innings before surrendering Nuzzo's two-run homer in the seventh. Corcino's final line included seven innings with three hits, two runs, one walk, and eight strikeouts. He was credited with the win.

The Dragons finished with 12 hits. Torreyes was 3 for 4 with two runs batted in and two stolen bases. He raised his batting average in six games with the Dragons to .417. Barnhart was 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Bowe was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

The Dragons will host Lansing again on Tuesday at Fifth Third Field in game two of a three-game series at 7:00 p.m. Tanner Robles (3-6, 7.09) will start for Dayton.
