Fifth Third Field

Dayton, Ohio * 7:00 p.m.

Game # 74 (4) * Radio: WONE-AM 980

Lansing Lugnuts (3-0, 41-29) at Dayton Dragons (2-1, 37-36)

RH Tyler Powell (1-0, 0.96) vs. RH Daniel Corcino (7-3, 2.53)

Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lansing Lugnuts (affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) in the first game of a three-game series. Season Series: Lansing 4, Dayton 2 (at Dayton: Lansing 2, Dayton 1).

The Streak: The Dragons consecutive game sell-out streak now stands at 808 (entering tonight's game), six short of the all-time sports record. Barring rain-outs, the Dragons could tie the record held by the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA on July 2 and break the record on July 9.

Last Game: On Sunday in Bowling Green, the Dragons battled back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Hot Rods 5-4 and take two out of three games in the series. The four-run deficit matched the largest that the Dragons have overcome in a victory this season as they won their third straight road set. Ronald Torreyes lined a two-out, two-run double to right field to bring in the go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh inning, and four Dayton relievers combined to shutout the Hot Rods over the final five innings. Torreyes and Dominic D'Anna each had two hits to lead an 11-hit Dayton attack.

Today's Dragons Starting Pitcher: Daniel Corcino makes his 14th start of the season tonight. Corcino pitched one inning in the Midwest League All-Star Game on June 21 at Quad Cities, allowing one run in one inning and suffering the loss. He was not involved in the decision in his last start on June 15 at Fort Wayne (6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO). He won six consecutive starts from April 18-May 18. Corcino has been dominant over his last 11 starts (60 IP, 10 ER, 1.50 ERA). Corcino has allowed no runs in five of his last nine starts. Corcino is a 20-year-old native of the Dominican Republic. He entered the 2011 season rated as the #15 prospect in Reds organization by Baseball America. Corcino has drawn comparisons to fellow Dominican and former Dragon Johnny Cueto because of a fastball that can get into the mid 90 mph range and sub-six foot frame.

Individual Notes

* Donald Lutz is 11 for 23, .478, with 2 HR over his last six games, raising his average from .238 to .262.

* Drew Hayes over his last 23 G: 27.2 IP, 2 R, 0.65 ERA (10 straight games without allowing a run). Hayes leads Midwest League relievers in opponents' batting average (.119) and strikeouts per 9 innings (14.34).

* Since April 18, the Dragons have held their opponents to two runs or less in 30 out of 62 games.

* The Dragons bullpen ERA for the year is now under 3.00 at 2.90. Over the last five games, relievers have allowed 1 ER in 22 IP.
