Thunder Reassigned C Eric Hunter From Oklahoma City

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, announced the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League have reassigned center Eric Hunter to the Thunder.

Oklahoma City is the AHL affiliate of the Thunder and Oilers.

Hunter, 26, has earned 12 points in 16 games with the Thunder this season and leads the team with a +11 rating. He skated in two games with Oklahoma City and totaled four penalty minutes.

He has 80 games of AHL experience with the Barons and Lake Erie Monsters, scoring 16 points while totaling 40 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-1 and 194 pound forward was twice selected in the NHL Entry Draft, beginning with the Chicago Blackhawks in the eighth round (229th overall) in 2004 and with the New York Rangers in the sixth round (174th overall) in 2006.

Hunter was originally signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Aug. 30, 2012 and signed an AHL contract with Oklahoma City on Nov. 6.

The Thunder returns to play tonight at 7:30 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com) against the Bakersfield Condors at Stockton Arena.

A two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the seventh consecutive season in 2011-12.
